The Lexington Public Library issues a library card without charge to any person living within the city limits. Library card applicants must show two forms of identification to demonstrate residency. Persons under 16 years of age need a parent's signature on the application card. The signature on the application card verifies the person's agreement with the library to return items on time and to follow the policies and rules of the library.
Non-resident (not living within the city limits) cards are issued for $5.00 per year per family.
New patrons will be limited to 5 items checked out at any given time for the first 6 months as a first time card holder. More items can be checked out when any or all of those 5 items are returned.
Temporary cards may be issued to persons with short-term residency. Temporary cards cost $10.00 and are issued for a period of six months. When all items are returned and the borrower turns in the card, the $10.00 will be refunded.
